Comfortable
I’m a 66 year old skier and wanted protection plus warmth for my bottom while riding on the cold chairlift seats in northern Michigan. Very comfortable and well padded. Fit is true and my snow pants fit nicely over the pads. Highly recommended if you’re looking for protection and warmth.

Good protection and value - updated long term review
I am 62 and recently started inline skating with my son. After taking several hard falls on my hips at a skate park, I decided I needed some protection. These looked like a good value with good protection, so I ordered the large for my 32/33 inch waist. They fit great, not too tight and not too loose and they are very light. The bulk is easily handled under a set of gym shorts. I took a couple of falls on my sore hips the first day and the hip pads definitely helped. I'm sure if I wasn't already bruised, they would have prevented the bruising. I then took a hard fall on my butt the next day and the pad pretty much absorbed all the impact, I was unhurt in a situation I am sure would have bruised my backside. Overall I am very happy with the shorts. I will say, as others here have said, they are very hot, but better hot than hurt. Because of the heat and resulting sweating, they require hand washing as soon as I return from a skate. My only ongoing concern is how the gaps between pads may potentially open and allow some exposure because of the thinness of the shorts material, but I have not experienced that so far. Overall, I think the shorts offer decent protection and are a good value, and if they last any time at all, I feel are worth the price. LONGER TERM UPDATE: I have used these several times a week for over 6 months now and am very pleased with the performance. I have had instances where a fall caused the pad gap to open and lessen the protection, but I have found that wearing something tighter over the top of them completely eliminates that problem. It could be that a smaller size would accomplish that same thing and I may end up getting a smaller size to try that out. So far the shorts are still in good shape even with a lot of falls and washing, both hand and machine. I know they work because I went skating while they were in the wash, and bruised both hips that day. The only drawbacks I have seen are they are a bit awkward to wear while driving to and from skate spots where there is no place to change, and as I mentioned previously, they are very hot. I end up completely soaked, both the shorts and whatever I am wearing over them, after every session even in the winter. I will take that minor inconvenience to get the added protection every time though. I will definitely buy another pair when these finally give out, or sooner.

Very Informative review.
These are great. I’m a beginner skateboarder, and I took quite the slam a few days ago landing directly on my hip. I decided in that moment I was going to buy these as they were already in my cart. They arrived very timely (I am a prime customer) and they seem to be very good quality. I ordered a medium as a 6’2 male who weighs about 145-155. I thought they may be a little loose on my legs as I’m lanky and skinny but they fit just right. They’re light weight, have good mobility, and great support from what I can tell. I took a few “test falls” in my driveway and felt little to nothing on my behind. The padding is in all the right places. I have yet to skate them for a long period of time so I’m not sure on the breathability but they seem to have a pretty good amount of it. Overall I’d definitely recommend these if you struggle with commitment do to a fear of falling. Also, a set of 187 killer pads wrist guard’s and if you can afford it a triple eight helmet. You might think you look dumb but you’ll be happy when you fall and take little to no damage opposed to a broken wrist, bruised bottom, or a cracked skull. Stay safe and have fun!!

Saved my ass (literally)
Very well padded and protects the butt and tail bone. My snowboarding run would've been cut short if it wasn't for the padded shorts. Recommend for anyone that is getting into snowboarding as it will cushion your falls. I do recommend getting a size up in snow pants (depending on the company) as it was a struggle to clip my snow pants buckle when I had the shorts on. Fabric is mesh and breathable.

Excellent Product!
I am very heavy into sports with wheels. From Cycling to Urban Triskating, to Skateboarding and recently electric boarding. I have never felt a need to use a product like this until I started e-boarding. At 25-30mph a fall is a lot diffferent to the usual speeds when pushing a longboard or taking my normal board to the skatepark. A friend recommended these to go under my shorts and honestly I was bit skeptical at first. I thought it would look like I was wearing a diaper or look disproportionate. However, after trying it the first few times, my small worries were put at bay and I would highly recommend this product! It has 4 pads down both sides and one pad for the rear. I did end up removing the rear pad as that made it seem pretty bulky (plus I never fall sitting down, its almost always on my side or out in front because of the speed). Using just the side pads it is very comfortbale and whether I wear shorts or long pants you cannot tell I am wearing them. I use them every time I go out and I feel much more protected with these than any of the other pads I use. I do not use knee pads or elbow guards, but I do continue to use wrist guards and a helmet in conjunction with these. While I do not ride recklessly, I do feel more confident with these and have felt the protection they provide on falls at higher speeds. Again, great product! Please see the attached video for size comparison when held up and realtime look at the texture and surface area.

Short term use.
Well for starters I have noticed people complaining of tears or holes on inside of the shorts. If you read the description the holes are designed for pad removal. Had a laugh at some pictures with patches. Now for the goods, I'm a 48 y/o snowboarder who enjoys having a tailbone. I did quite a bit of research on impact shorts and decided to go cheap, which is never good. The shorts ended up working for me with modifications. Day one, the shorts fit under the snowboard pants without much room to spare. Glad my coat was long enough to cover my bum so I didn't look like JLO. The first run I skidded out landed on my bum, success! I felt nothing, my daughter(without pads) did the same thing next to me and it almost took her out. After sitting on the lift chair, sitting anywhere in general I noticed total deflation of the butt pad. When I got home and looked at the butt pad it was thin as a piece of paper. That meant day 2 no butt pad! I had five days to go! I figured my thighs were safe so I took out the right and left lower thigh pads and combined them to form a square and insert them on top of the original butt pad. The thigh pads were denser as well, though still compressed to half the size. I only skidded on my bum one other time during the week but it was a hard and fast and they worked. My final thoughts are you get what you pay for, spend double and possibly have great protection for years to come. Go cheap and get a one time use with having to innovate a new design on the fly. I never cheap on my Mountain Bike gear and feel protected. Go with name brands, Burton, Leatt, GForm, Dainese. You will not be disappointed and won't miss the money when your confident about your gear! Go Shred Haoles!
