Passed all my tests!
I ran this through an ‘endurance’ test today. I used three different types of applicators - one was a ruling pencil (a very cheap one) and two were silicon ‘brushes’ (also cheap). Bottom line was this mask will be an indispensable part of my toolkit. Detail: I made thin lines with the ruling pencil and thick lines with the ruling pencil and with the silicon brushes, and swooshes with the silicon brushes. Ruling pens require frequent refilling but the mask didn’t seem to be more likely to bleed at the places where I had to refill my ruling pen. I did curves and straight lines. I did little dots and circles. Once the masking was done, I let the mask dry for about 90 minutes before applying in different areas water color, water color pencil, and colored pencil and mineral oil blender. Mineral oil in my test didn’t negatively impact the mask one bit. Bottom line is that this mask passed every test. I was happily surprised that the mask did alright with colored pencils. I was a bit careful in my pencil strokes though, because I think the pencil EVENTUALLY would remove at least the edges of the mask, but in my test it didn’t happen. Not even a rubbery nubby! I didn’t color a lot with pencil over the mask, but I wasn’t as careful as I could have been. Not one edge of the mask came up with the pencil work. That’s amazing. Let’s call my level of caution with the colored pencil ‘careless light’ (as opposed to ‘wantonly wild’ or ‘fearfully timid’). Light pencil pressure didn’t seem to mangle the mask in my test. I waited with mask removal until about five hours from mask application. The mask removed super easy with a rubber/gum eraser (also purchased on Amazon). In fact, once I started removing the mask with the rubber/gum eraser, I could pull off long pieces of the rest of the masked line without even using the rubber/gum eraser. This seems to be a strong mask if it turns into something strong enough to pull off in one piece! Even though I used lots of water in some of the watercolor, and mineral oil with the pencil, there was NO BLEEDING either above or below the masked lines. I purposely did one side yellow and the other blue just to see if I’d find any green - there was no green! I used so much water that the watercolor bulged up to the line, but no bleeding. That’s fantastic! Cleanup of the tools I used to apply the mask was pretty easy - and my application tools super cheap. I like the blue tint in the mask, makes it easier to work with. Also makes removing the mask a true ‘reveal’ - the difference is quite fun! Definite recommend. Enjoy! 6-30-2022 UPDATE: I applied quite a bit of masking fluid using a ruling pen on one page of Canson XL Bristol paper. I estimate the masking when all added together covered roughly 40% of this 9”x 13” piece of Bristol paper. After the masking was all applied, I ran out of time and so did not add color (Caran d’Arch water color pencil and Prismacolor Premier color pencil) until the next day, so the mask was on the paper for more than 24 hours. It worked without any bleeding (either on top or below the masking fluid) and amazingly removed easily (with my fingers) without damaging the paper, and left absolutely no residue at all on the paper. I’m also surprised how much masking fluid is left in this little jar after this project! A++++ 5 stars :) Hope this is helpful info for you :)

This is a great product!
This works great for watercolor painting. The blue color makes it easy to see where you laid it on the paper so you can remove it easily. I recommend this product. Now they have pens filled with this masking fluid, making it easier to be more precise. I will get that when I run out of the bottle I have.

Great masking tool!
Works great for masking areas you don’t want paint to cover. The n blue color is a good contrast - easily seen, dries quickly and easy to remove!

masking fluid that masks...
This stuff works well and is only slightly difficult to remove. I was using only my finger initially but using a tool to do the removal made the job that much easier. It masks well without any issues such as bleed through or lifting so I would say it's a win-win. Price was good, product did as advertised, cleanup was simple and end result was painting that I could sell. Definitely recommend both seller and product.

Great gum!!!
I’m new to watercolor painting and never used drawing gum before. I had this idea for a birthday card and it would require using the gum. I didn’t want to spend more than $10 and this was a great fit. It’s very liquid, I’m not sure why others complained about it, faulty batches happen and with Amazon return policy return would be a breeze. It dries pretty quickly, completely transparent but not to the point where you don’t see it at all. The downside of it drying quickly is that you have to work fast or it starts drying, sticking to the brush and creating small clots. But even with that, the coverage is even and complete. Now, the amazing part! I applied it to a drawing meaning to paint over it right after, but life got in the way and I didn’t get to it for 2 months. I was afraid the gum would disintegrate or affect the quality of the painting. To my surprise, that did not happen and the gum protected the paper and came off as easily as if I applied it an hour ago. It comes off in one piece, no ripping, no stains, paper was clean and ready to paint on! I’ll have to work on staying in lines and my speed to make it perfect next time :)

Good Product
I've used this for masking with watercolors, but it's just the ticket for sealing the edges of watercolor pads to make them become a "block" form and prevent buckling while painting. Just remember to leave a gap so you can easily remove a sheet at a time. Glad I found this stuff.

Fun and functional
I'd never used masking fluid before I bought this product and am having SO much fun with it! It's easy to use and I've found that it's both for small details in paintings generally but can also be used for creating different abstract textures and looks. I've gotten headaches from rubber cement before but the smell of this item is not too strong so I haven't had any problems.

update : I have since first writing a review left this on another painting for over 24 hours and it came off easily and left zero stain. It was on 140lb Arches cold press paper I have also used it with a ruling pen for very fine lines and it worked great. It’s just the right fluidity. One thing to be aware of if you aren’t already is to ensure your paper is completely dry before applying or it will absorb into the paper and you’ll damage the paper trying to get it off and you may not be able to. Also, ensure your paper is completely dry before trying to remove it or again you will damage your paper. So mostly I am super pleased with this product with just one concern pros - for me the very runny consistency is ideal - it protected the areas I laid it down on perfectly no seepage at all - the colour makes it easy to see for removal as you can see in the pic attached - I took it off after 2 hours with no problem at all cons - in one area it left an almost imperceptible blue stain. It wasn’t a problem in this painting and it was truly super faint but it concerns me if left on longer ( perhaps varies with paper ?) it may stain more than I would find acceptable. I wonder why they changed the colour ? From the reviews I have read everybody loved the previous gray colour. In fact I ordered this based on a review by a watercolour artist that referred to the gray colour hmmmmm tips I found the lid impossible to get off even when I tried doing it wearing rubber gloves. I am not strong but it seemed odd. So much so that I watched a itube video demo to see if there was a trick to removing the lid - nope - just requires brute strength to unscrew it. I got a man to do it and first go he couldn’t either but then did. So the upside is that it being so tight likely ensures it’s not dried out when you buy it. My suggestion is open it before you get all settled in to use it 😊 I saw in a video a suggestion which may prove very useful. When finished screw on the lid and then store it upside down to avoid a film forming on the top where it reacts to oxygen in the bottle after sealing. Worth a try but I have put it in a small tupperware container just in case it leaks. So far it has not but that’s a potential mess I am happy to ensure I avoid I left it for 30 minutes before painting over the area. I have heard as little as 15 minutes is fine. In parts it still had a sheen as if it was still wet so if you see that just tap it with your finger to check it’s dry I applied it with a cheap brush. I put Dawn dishwashing soap in a little container and dipped it in that and then wiped off the excess with paper towel. It says there is no need to rinse the brush on the directions on the bottle. At times it started to get gummy so I swished it in a container of water and it came clean. I would suggest doing that fairly frequently to avoid a lot of gummy strands building up and then you can continue to brush it on with clean lines. If you do get it gummy it comes off easily with the Dawn soap. Some people also just rub the brush on a soap bar / shard So for me it was a 5 star experience. The staining would be a 2 star but as it was super faint and didn’t cause me a problem I am rating the product 4 star.
