Hi Debbie, these are very tiny PLASTIC pellets. I bought them to weigh down a toy I was making, they are so small they actually squeeze out between the stitches. You will need to put them into a little bag if this is what you intend to do with them. Otherwise put them into the plastic recycle bin, they are obviously environmentally dangerous.

The bag is about the size of a small bag of flour, hope that helps, if you are wanting to fill a bean bag you sit on this isn't what I would use, I bought it to add some weight to a small soft toy I made.
