Funny, Practical, and Essential for New Dads!
The New Dad's Survival Guide is a funny, straightforward, and incredibly helpful read for first-time dads. It provides practical advice without being overwhelming, covering everything from pregnancy to newborn care in a way that’s easy to digest. The humor makes it engaging, but it still delivers useful, real-world tips on how to support your partner, handle sleepless nights, and survive diaper duty. It’s not overly detailed like some parenting books, but that’s what makes it great for dads who just want the essentials without the fluff.Overall, a great gift for expecting dads—informative, entertaining, and actually useful!

Great Gift Especially for Nonreaders
My husband doesn't really read books. Sometimes he'll start one, but rarely finishes. He's more of a magazine guy. This book, however, attracted and retained his attention and he read it cover to cover and then gave it to his cousin who is expecting his first baby too. It doesn't delve into the details as much as my mom books do, but it covers a wide range and makes all the pregnancy and baby stuff simple and easy to understand. The humor is refreshing, and it walks the fine line between being self deprecating and ragging on men very well. Some other books geared towards dads I found insulting (basically assuming all guys are beer loving football watchers who want to do the bare minimum required by their unreasonable wives). Recommend for first time dads, especially those who are NOT interested in reading a super technical book about every little detail of pregnancy, childbirth, and baby care.

Great Read, Funny, Enjoyable
My husband and I are reading this book now. It definitely has some great topics for conversation and good tips during pregnancy, labor, and after. I like that it is very humorous but still informative. We even started using the lingo in our daily conversations!! BCF!The only downside is that because the book was written a while ago it is a little outdated with some of its references. Like a boom box. But you can pretty much figure out what modern item to replace that with :)

Take this book for what it is: a no-nonsense intro to fatherhood
I read some of the negative reviews, and decided to chime in as I just ordered a copy of this for a friend. This book isn't the end-all of fathering books. It's not an all-inclusive reference. This book is the book you read when you have a few minutes to spare and want a humorous look at the basic essentials. It's helpful for those of us who don't have a lot of time (and who does, when preparing to be a father?)It definitely helped me with the pre-fatherhood terror I experienced. If nothing else, it explains some things to you in a concise, funny way, and helps reassure the reader that "this is gonna be tough. You will screw a lot of things up. But you can do this."

Funny & Spot On
goid quick simple read. I've read two of my wife's baby books, and we just finished our baby birthing class. This books condenses a all those in a pretty funny but accurate summary of the month's leading to and after that little New Family Unit pops out. Must read for all dads (warning: great man's man book. If you want something wanky, overly scientific, technical, or academic - go elsewhere, but still read this too. If you want a good simple guy's guide told in a funny tone - ENJOY!)

Book is tailored to generations past.
20 years old and you can tell. Somewhat infantilizes soon to be Dads. Feels like an outdated version of fatherhood wrapped in trying to be cool lingo. Saying things like you shouldn’t be involved in what your FPP is going through unless you have a good therapist feels pretty dated. That said, still informative, helpful, and an easy read.

This book has been a huge help for both my wife and I. It's short but to the point.
This is an excellent book that covered the basics and really helped me from freaking out. The book is not too long and perfect for guys that don't read to much. The book keeps you entertained and the way it's written helps you retain everything you learn. If you're reading this and still haven't bought the book just buy it. It's not much and believe me a quarter into reading this book you'll feel like it's the best few bucks you have ever spent.Again this book is not too detailed and does not go in to deep into any certain issue. It just gives you enough information so your not clueless when stuff happens. Once the baby comes you'll really appreciate the little things you picked from this book. I totally recommend this book. Buy it!

Entertaining and informative
It held my husband's attention and he actually took the advice seriously because it was obviously written by a "manly man" as opposed to some of the other books that I had him read. It was very humorous and offered practical advice focusing on after baby arrives. If you're looking for something to help him understand what you're gong through while you're pregnant, this isn't the book, but once you head to the hospital, this will give him some general direction (it is by no means a thorough instruction guide).
