This adapter works with Wii but not Wii U.

Wii U has a HDMI output port so no need this adapter.

Q: Does the audio peak and crackle like other budget adapters?

No it doesn't. Crystal Clear sound in fact Crystal Clear surround sound as I run it through my 7.1 Dolby Atmos receiver and have never had an issue. This will in fact make your Wii sound and look it's absolute best if we run to the proper equipment to do so. Trust me when I say I've used all the other cheap adapters... until I finally landed on this one being the ultimate an actual one that does what it advertises! I love it so much I have three of these adapters for three separate Wii systems! :)
