Q: Would this be good for videos, FaceTime, Skype, etc?

It will be good for small product videos photography, not suit for Portrait Photography videos, FaceTime, Skype, etc, hope this can help.

Q: The legs won't retract out for me. How do I get them to come out?

Firstly, just make a small rotation twist to make sure the metal leg have enough space could be pushed out.（Maybe you have twisted the bottom, the metal legs stuck on the plastic bottom） Then, hold the handle and shake it down vertically, the metal legs will come out a little, and then you could pull out. If you can't extend legs by this way, kindly please contact us freely. We will help you solve the problem via email czlc64@sina.com.

Q: Not many reviews, one good one bad, so buyers; is this product worth it? I need it for product photography

They are vinyl and use a rubber band to create friction between the diffuser box and the light. You get what you pay for. I've used them for lighting during video interviews. They do diffuse the light but the light is still directional creating shadows. The shadows are not as sharp as without the box. They are no where near Professional quality, but if you want photos for eBay, they should work fine. If you are trying to sell a high end product on your business web site, hire a professional. You may look at a light box. I use one with two lights without the diffusers to photograph my playing card collection.
