Is the surface a cloth texture feel? (when using a mouse)

I use a trackball but to my hand the surface feels mostly smooth with a very fine texture.

This will be going on a surface exactly 1200 wide, are the item dimensions on the width spot on or could i end up with some overhang? Thanks.

Just measured mine, it is exactly 1200mm.
