I got this flat shovel, because I broke the snow shovel we had trying to clear ice from the drive. I bought this one specifically, because it has gussets that should distribute the force to the whole blade when I stab or thrust it into the ice. I have used it several times since it arrived, and it works really well. The handle is long enough that I can get the shovel nearly perpendicular to the ground when trying to dislodge ice. The handle is also comfortable to hold and use - it's not too big in diameter. The shovel is not showing any signs of rusting, but I dry it and keep it in the mudroom, which is climate controlled.This shovel works great for ice, but it works well for snow too; it effortlessly clears the snow in its path. It's not practical to use to clear a large area, such as a drive or deck, but it did well for the walk path to the house.

I use it daily to clean three racing pigeon lofts that have sheet vinyl or vinyl plank flooring (from my daughter old kitchen floor!) I couldn't be more pleased with how easily the pigeon poop scrapes. Either side of the scraper works wonders, and it will scrape with the forward motion or with a backward scraping motion. For one smaller loft I removed one of the handle pieces, and for a larger loft it used it at full length. The hole in the last handle section made it easy to hang the unit in the loft. For my purposes this should last and last.

I bought this to cut a trench about 200 feet long for burying electric cable and it did a nice job cutting through the sod but did not hold up to the occasional stone; still way cheaper and more convenient than renting a trencher and I will try to touch up the deformed portions of the blade in case I ever have to use it as an ice scraper on the driveway. (But I sure hope that I wont have to deploy it for that!)

It worked , but after using one time , it has rust spots all over the blade. I guess it won’t affect its performance? I hope not.
