Q: How do crossovers work? Do they reduce power going to your tweeters so they don't blow?

No. They do not reduce power. How they work is with the full frequency signal they see, they split it up to the prospective speakers. Higher frequencies go to the tweeters. Frequencies generally below 3500hz or so get sent to the mid range speaker.

Q: Can you use this with 8ohm drivers? How would it change the crossover point.

If you use a 4 ohm rated crossover on 8 ohm, then you will halve the crossover frequency. I.E.= 3500 hz @ 4 ohm = 1750 hz @ 8 ohm

Q: This is made to be fed by an amplifier speaker output of no more than 150 watts rms, correct? can it be fed by my deck, regular speaker wire output?

Yes ,and yes . I recently put 250 rms , too much power . It blew all my tweeters. So from A radio you will be fine 🙂
