How am I supposed to choose a crampon size without any information about what shoe sizes it fits?

The shoe size only tells you what size foot it is supposed to fit. Different boots that are both size 11 could be completely different sizes on the outside depending on what kind they are and how they are made. You have to get a ruler, measure and use the size chart.

I am a city mail carrier and walk through lots of deep snow as well as ice. How well do they hold up tromping through snow?

My husband bought two pair, I use mine more and I think they are great. I had major back surgery in March and worry about falling. These cleats are fabulous and they are comfortable to wear, I thought I'd feel bumps etc but the walk is pretty smooth. I have not used in deep snow but feel they would be fine. I leave them on my boots, ready to go. The cleats are sharp, be careful. I live in the country, lots of snow and icy roads where I walk my dog. Hope this helps.

Will they come with any adjustable strap?

Velcro strap across the instep.

Sorry to hear your experience. This product is not useful for much use as the metal used for linking chains is cheap and breaks. You can use zip ties for an emergency fix or electrical wire for a longer term fix. However, if you need cleats for winter hiking, a better quality product, such as Katoola cleats is needed.
